3. What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?
Family means everything to me. I can count the number of Starks left on one hand - and that's why we need to look out for each other. We can't let anyone come between us for any reason.
Yet family isn't only linked by blood. There are some - allies and friends - who are no longer living that I would consider kin. Once someone proves themselves to be honest and supportive, I want to protect them. What better way than to welcome them into Winterfell proper?
5. Do you have any regrets? If so, what are the biggest ones? If not, what is something you wish you had gotten to do back home?
My greatest regret is being such a fool when I was a child. I thought fairy-tales were true and I believed, fervently, that Joffrey was my shining prince. I supported him when I should have been dragging a knife across his throat. Because of me, my father died.
I didn't know I was playing a part in Joffrey's murder, but I wish I had done it knowingly. The Tyrells were too gentle with me.
10. Adult characters only: How would your ten-year-old self react to you now?
She would be horrified, I'm sure. All of her dreams are nothing but silly fantasies and I am proof she can only expect disappointment. However, once she calmed down, I hope she would see that we can be strong. No matter what, we are Starks. And now we are Queen of the North and we answer to no King. That, in itself, is a fairy-tale for me.
12. How do you define beauty and what was the best example you have ever witnessed?
Honesty and a good heart are beautiful to me. I don't care what someone looks like. I made that mistake as a child, thinking an ugly face reflected a deceitful, cruel heart. I've discovered usually the opposite is true. Those with scars know how precious kindness can be.
The best example of beauty I have ever seen had to do with a man called the Hound. He was burned by his elder brother as a child and his face bore those awful scars. He could be a brute, yet he always looked out for me. I was attacked in the streets of King's Landing. I thought I was going to be raped. He came out of nowhere and killed my attackers without saying a word. Then he carried me back to safety.
After that, he took care of my sister and even aided Winterfell in the battle against the dead. His heart outshone most and I think of him when I imagine a true knight, though he would scoff if I said so.
14. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would you change and why?
I'm not sure I would change anything. As much as I wish my family was alive, I know what I experienced made me who I am today. If any part of me was altered - supposedly for "the better" - what else would that change? What if they died in even worse ways? What if they suffered endlessly? I can't predict the future and I can't change the past. If I want some part of me to change, I must do it now.
I am working on being braver and speaking my mind. The support of the men and women of Winterfell has given me confidence, but I want to retain that confidence even if the world turns its back on me. A queen shouldn't only be strong when she is supported; she needs to be even stronger when she faces opposition.
